I started trying to kill her by starving her, but once the timer hit zero she didn't die. Then I tried using a sauna. She got the Superfluous Steaming moodlet, but now every time I try to get her to go back in the sauna she turns it off. Since the bed breaks quite often, sleeping in it can be a very dangerous endeavor. Keep your Sim's handiness low, don't repair the bed, and keep on using that mechanism. Yes he has completed the athletic aspiration, yes he is an active sim and yes I know that makes a sim live longer than other sims. I felt so bad about killing off a sim (one of my all-time fave sims!) who just would NOT die, but realistically she would have been, like, over 100. My first mermaid sim has been an elder for well over 150 days and I don't think she'll ever die. She became an elder the day after her daughter became a teen. I got the notice that she was going to die soon but it didn't happen. The daughter went to college and got married, now they're all living together waiting. I don't just want to kill her. They just never seem to get electrocuted. I tried starving them, but it just takes half an age, it actually hasn't worked yet. They never manage to get taken by the cow twice, i don't know why they won't just die! Ujbs.
